New Haven EMD FL9 In The CCCX Yard On A Sunny Friday AfternoonPhotographed here is the newest addition to the Cape Cod Central Railroad’s fleet - a soon to be ex-New Haven Railroad EMD FL9. Built in November of 1957, #2026 was recently acquired by Iowa Pacific Holdings earlier this month from the Connecticut DOT. Another FL9 (i.e., #2011) was also purchased from the Connecticut DOT about the same exact time. However, it was noticeably absent from today’s roster. Once painted in the typical Cape Cod Central Railroad’s cranberry paint scheme over the winter, it’ll begin pulling Shoreline Scenic Excursion Trains hopefully at the start of next spring. This is certainly a surprising, yet welcomed, sight as FL9s haven’t been seen on the Cape for at least the last twenty years or so from what I have learned.
