And Then There Were Five.....

ST SD-26 #619 and #643 are combined with CR power on an empty Bow Coal Train at Gardner, MA. ST purchased ~35 of these 1959/1960 built units from Santa Fe in 1986. At this point (9/16/98) only five remain, the others having suffered various calamities and been scrapped.( The 615 is reported to have fallen into the turntable pit at Waterville!) These five antiques can still be found in Main Line service all over GRS and serving as the hump power at E. Deerfield. Only on GRS in 1998.....
