A Springfield Terminal eastbound freight negotiates the Freight Main Line at Wells in 1998. This was at a time when Guilford was in a stalemate with government authorities over the Portland Boston passenger train, and was deferring maintenance on the main line in anticipation of a major rehab associated with the new passenger service. Compare the condition of the track and right of way to other shots at this location three or four years later!
