Rio Grande at Palmer

Just passing through are a pair of Rio Grande tunnel motors enroute to the MM&A. The two SD40T-2's were part of a group of six units that came from the W&LE to help the MM&A's power crunch during the winter of 2004. The last SD40T-2 built for the D&RGW was #5413 seen here at Palmer, Mass with sister #5391 on the NECR awaiting further movement north.

Photographed by Matt Rooks, January 25, 2004.
