Wye connector

Once upon a time, Amtrak had a wye-connecting track that made a sharp left turn away from track 1 on the Dorchester Branch. The piece of track passed over Fort Point Channel and connected to No. 2 track within Tower 1 interlocking in the Northeast Corridor main, and right at Cove interlocking. The railroad had to give it up for a few years, though, while the powers that be built an incredible tunnel under the tracks. It got the nickname, "Big Dig." The railroaders didn't get the wye connector back for four years.
