Conn

"Conn," as railroaders call the span over the Connecticut River, is the longest Amtrak movable deck in New England, with seven spans across the river. Traveling west, the tracks leave the soil at Old Lyme, and land on the Old Saybrook side. When boaters need an opening to pass, they call the bridgtender at "Old Lyme Draw." Before the dispatchers took over control, the bridgetenders at Mystic, Nan and Conn were block operators and subject to requalifying annually the NORAC rule book. They controlled the derails, signals and bridge unlock.
