Maine Central - Lower Road - MP P60.3

At the end of the line, there was no easy place to turn aournd. Some cars backed up all the way into Hallowell and turned here. This is the grunt & groan method. There are two handles that slide under the car. One, preferably 2 guys pull these out towards the REAR of the car, lift and heave. At a total weight of 800 lbs this is no small job. Most of the mass is in the engine block which is located over the front axel. They can be turned form the front but it's a different experence all together. One that get's a smile and laugh from the 'old timers' ! They'll let you do it the first time. Warn you to never do it that way again and hound you the first time you forget... ! /DL
