Two views of the B&MLRR station at Unity, ME -- 1947 & 2005

These two views of the B&MLRR station at Unity, ME, were taken from the same spot 58 years apart. In the upper image BML#11, a 1907 vintage open vestibule Harlen & Hollingsworth built coach acquired from the Philadelphia & Reading RR (ex P&R 910) in January, 1927, is seen at Unity in 1947. The lower image shows one of the Swedish built coaches acquired by the B&ML in 1995 sitting in the same location in July, 2005. The freight house (left) in the 1947 image was taken down many years ago. A new station for excursion passenger service was built where it stood in 1995 while the original passenger station (right) became a gift shop, Unfortunately, there is currently no freight or passenger service running on this venerable135 year old line. The upper photograph, taken in 1947 by Victor Rawstron, was restored by Bruce C. Cooper (DigitalImageServices.com) who also took the lower photograph in July, 2005.
