NEW HAVEN RAILBUSThe NH Mack railbus is at Lonsdale heading for Providence on the old Providence & Worcester line -- the first seat aside the engineer was a great place to ride. Nine of the so-called "FCD II" busses were built for the NH in 1954 but only Number 12 went into service because the new management was not interested in providing service on low density lines which were unlikely to be profitable even with "bus" service. This car first ran Providence to Worcester and later only to Woonsocket. Service ended in December 1956. Across the causeway is the Blackstone River. I am standing at Moody's Beach after a light snowfall.
