EASTERN GAS & FUEL

After learning that steam was still active at the Eastern Gas & Fuel facility at Everett, MA (adjoins Boston) I went to their office and asked to photograph the locomotives. I was issued a hard hat and escorted to the enginehouse where there were four steamers and a diesel -- another steamer was working in the yard. Unfortunately, the area was cramped and didn't allow for good shots -- moreover I used Anscochrome film which faded badly. At the time of my visit I think EG&F owned four 0-8-0's built by ALCO from 1926 to 1929 and an 0-6-0 plus at least one diesel (there were at least four other 0-6-0's at one time) but I don't have a full roster.
