Crossing The Viaduct At Bernardston, MA

NS SD80MAC No. 7218 leads the Strates Carnival Train southbound across the majestic stone viaduct over the Falls River at Bernardston, MA. The train has a trailing SD80MAC in the consist and was transported south from Brattleboro, VT to East Deerfield, MA by Pan Am Southern. From there the train continued west to NYS. The bridge seen here was constructed circa 1848. Note the ruins of a former stone dam on the right. At one time the dam obscured the lower portion of the bridge.
