Downeaster using the new double track

It has been a long time coming. Maybe 5 years since VALE interlocking was completed in Andover MA. Finally 1/2 of the whole project became operational on 9/12/16. Pictured is Downeaster 686 sliding through the crossover just north of Ballardvale after passing MBTA 220 delayed on the other track. Both are Boston bound via the Wildcat Branch.

Balance of work is now to complete the double track project from here to Wilmington Jct another 3-4 miles further towards Boston.

Excuse the quality as the setting sun made the area shadowed. Best I could have gotten.
