Mail By Rail

The clerk in one of the Gilt Edge's Railway Post Office cars is tossing out a bag of mail onto a baggage cart during the station stop at New London, Connecticut. The New Haven would be no more in eight days as it would be absorbed into the Penn Central. The Boston & N.Y RPO would continue to sort the mails en route for a few more years after that, but RPO service would end forever with the last run of the N.Y. & Wash. RPO "The Wash Line" in 1977
