Westbound New England States Passenger Train @ Palmer,MA

Here is a late 1950's photograph. This is the famed New York Central passenger train, the NEW ENGLAND STATES. This was an all reserved train. Interesting mix of cars, streamline cars on the rear, with older heavyweight cars towards the middle. This train did not stop at Palmer. They flew through there 50MPH, similar to Amtrak's "Lake Shore Limited" who also flies through there today! In fact, all trains go fast past the station, because now the station is a junk shop!

Photographed by David Worth, 1958.
Added to the photo archive by Xian Clere, January 19, 2004.
Railroad: New York Central.
